Mineral Wells Stage Race, Mineral Wells, TX, February 26-27, 2011
Mary Cerkey and Dan Baur traveled to Texas for their first stage race of the year, and we met up with Travis Enmon who raced his first race since 2008. The weekend began with the Cat 2 race. Travis went off with the field and after a few laps had a wreck on a corner and eventually withdrew from the crit and the stage race. Next up was Dan Baur's Crit, where he finished 10th. Mary drove over to the time trial location and raced her tt, where she finished 3rd. Mary returned and picked up Dan to return to the TT course, where Dan also finished 3rd.
Day 2 was windy, with the Cat 4 road race starting at 8 am for two 24-mile laps. Dan stayed with the pack and went for the KOM points, but finished 5th. The peloton broke into two and Dan remained with the lead group, finishing 12th in a pack sprint. Mary started her race around Noon and finished her one lap race, finishing 3rd. Dan finished 6th overall and Mary won the Women's 4 category.
