Tour of Tucker County, May 29, 2010

The tenth hardest race in the country according to VeloNews. This is the mother of all Hill Climb road races in the Eastern U.S. Three hills to climb, the last a seven-miler. Dan dropped several minutes over last year's result finishing 17th in a field of 75. Paul had one flat tire, two dropped chains and one wrong turn from some bad marshalling, but still managed to finish 3rd just a few seconds away from the two leaders.

Mary blew away the Cat 4 Women's field with a first place finish about 5 minutes ahead of the next Cat 4 competitor. Mary won $60.00 and a bottle of champagne for the hard work and points toward upgrade as well.

Dave drove and got the team lost in the West Virginia Mountains fording streams and driving on dirt roads, but still managed to get the team to the race with some time to spare in spite of having a last minute detour (caused by a truck accident that blocked the road) a few miles from the race that required an additional 30-minutes on the road. Learned that GPS is not always your friend in West VA.
